What is behind the award?
The prize is awarded to market players who have permanently changed the hotel market and tourism industry and also have the potential to do so in the future.
Good reason to be pleased!
The Hospitality Innovation Award confirms the success of the MEININGER concept of combining success factors from different products – hotels and hostels.
The same principles apply for all MEININGER establishments: they are always centrally located, offer modern facilities, an unmistakable atmosphere and low prices. MEININGER thus addresses a broad range of different target groups.
How is success manifested?
MEININGER has once again succeeded in more than doubling its Group-wide turnover every two years and was crowned ‘Shooting Star of the Year’ in Treugast’s annual investment ranking – and that with the very first time it participated in the study.
Quality and location also count.
MEININGER is continually working on enhancing quality and standardising certain features of the hotels – such as parquet flooring, bathroom fittings form the company Grohe, mosaic tiling etc. The establishments are situated in nothing less than top locations and impress with their intelligent space concept, a flexible bed and room structure and the creation of attractive social interfaces in public areas. German consumer watchdog Stiftung Warentest rated these services provided by the MEININGER Group with the top grade of ‘GOOD’ in May this year.
MEININGER is donating the prize money of 2,500 euros to the children’s charity Kindernothilfe.

MEININGER is continuing to strive for dynamic growth – focussing on countries abroad. The Group’s current international locations in London and Vienna are to be extended to include Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Budapest and other metropolises.
The Queen being a guest at MEININGER
The atmosphere was very royal at our Hotel in London as Queen Elisabeth II dedicated a statue in her honour as the patroness of the British Scouts. The event took place at our hotel, the Baden-Powell House, named after the founder of the scout movement Robert Baden-Powell.
Hostel Award
At the annual Visit London Awards the highlights of the city are honoured. We are proud that in 2007 we received the bronze award in the category „Hostel of the Year”.
