Nizar’s bee in his bonnet
Let’s beam back to the year 1999, when “hostel” was still an alien word in Germany. Bored stiff by working in four- and five-star hotels, Nizar Rokbani, son of Tunisian parents, and his pal Oskar decided to stir up the hotel scene in Berlin and try something entirely new. The two of them forge a plan, borrow money from friends and relatives and on the basis of their ideas launch a student hotel in Meininger Straße, Berlin. The rest is history. Nizar, if it wasn’t for you, MEININGER wouldn’t exist!
