Skydeck Zeilgalerie

One of the best views of the legendary Skyline of Frankfurt you’ll have from the „Skydeck“ on the 7th level of Zeilgalerie. From the roof of the shopping centre, all the skyscrapers that gave the city its second name „Mainhattan“ for a reason, make the perfect photo opportunity and especially at sunset you’ll meet a bunch of photographers with tripods and big lenses up there. And the best part: the access is free!
Zeilgalerie 7th floor, Zeil 112 – 114, 60313 Frankfurt am Main, Daily 10-20h, except Sundays.

Römerberg

When you thing of Frankfurt, you think of skyscrapers, banking and the international airport, but there is also a very pretty old part of town. At Römerberg lies the Town Hall of Frankfurt, which is one of the oldest and prettiest in Germany. Around the „Gerechtigkeitsbrunnen“ (fountain of justice) emperors have been elected and crowned. The east side of the square is framed with medieval half-timbered houses, that have been rebuilt in the 80ies, named „Big Angel“ or „Golden Griffin“. Just off the square you’ll find the imperial cathedral, the historical museum and the post modern „Saalgasse“.

There’s a big permanent exhibition and changing special exhibits you can see for 12€, the shop offers a wide range of great art and design books and prints, cloakroom and the gardens admission is free. If its a nice day just start a walk from Römerberg, crossing the Main at „Eiserner Steg” bridge and walk along the riverside, where many other museums are located, to Städel Museum.
