Which Details do we need to send before arrival?

To ensure that your stay runs smoothly and is as comfortable as possible, we need a number of details about your group in advance – the earlier the better, but in any case no later than 14 before arrival. The main details are arrival and departure times, mealtimes and special food and drink requests as well as the average age of the group. Unless we have these details already, we will send you a data form approx. 3-4 weeks prior to your arrival. We do not require a list of group members before your arrival. For legal reasons, we need you to fill in a room list including first and surnames and the dates of birth of your group members when you arrive.

Are there parking spaces for buses nearby the hotel?

All MEININGER hotels are located centrally and are easily accessible by local public transport – not least for the sake of the environment we therefore recommend that you travel by public transport. Unfortunately, we do not have our own parking spaces for buses. It is generally possible to park near the hotel for a few minutes to load or unload luggage. For exact addresses, directions, maps and details about car and bus parking, please see the individual hotel pages.

Do you charge a deposit on arrival?

We always charge groups a key deposit on arrival (usually 50 euros or pounds), which we fully reimburse on the day of departure if everything has been returned and is undamaged. It is at our staff’s discretion to charge a deposit of no more than 10 pounds or euros on arrival – and in any case no more than 500 pounds or euros per group. The deposit will be returned on departure if no damage has been caused by the group. Any damage that exceeds the deposit must be paid for directly at the hotel.

Questions and Answers about the rooms

What is a dormitory?

A dormitory is a room with multiple beds and individual travellers can book single beds in it. This means that several guests share the room. You must be at least 18 years old to stay in a dormitory.

In the women’s dormitory only women are permitted to sleep in one of the up to 6 beds, at the MEININGER Hotel London Hyde Park up to 14 beds.

Both men and women can sleep in the small dormitory, usually there are up to 6 beds.

In the large dormitory there are up to 14 beds where men and women can sleep.

Do you have hotel rooms for smokers?

Smoking is not permitted in MEININGER establishments. Designated smoking areas are located in front of the building.

How are the rooms equipped?

In general, all rooms at MEININGER have a shower and WC. In the shared rooms these are often separate to help things run more smoothly. Only the cheaper basic rooms on the sixth floor in London do not have a shower and WC, and only some of them have running water. Here, you can use the communal showers on the same floor, which are lockable. Each guest is provided with a magnetic or electronic key card, which gives around-the-clock-access to the hotel and the room.

Do we have to bring towels and bedlinen?

At MEININGER bedding is always included in the price – for reasons of hygiene, we do not make the top bunk beds, and guests have to do this themselves. If you make a group booking based on single, twin or three-bed rooms, towels are included. In the case of group bookings based on shared rooms, towels are included only with single and twin rooms, and we kindly ask you to bring your own towels if you stay in shared rooms from 3 persons. Alternatively, you can hire towels for shared rooms for a fee of €1.00 per towel and day. Please order them no later than 14 days prior to your arrival.

How many persons sleep in one room?

Groups sleep in private shared rooms; as a rule, up to 6 persons sleep in one room (exceptions: London up to 12 | Hamburg & Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus up to 8 persons | Berlin Hauptbahnhof & Wien Downtown Sissi up to 4 persons).

Single, twin and three-bed rooms are available for accompanying persons and bus drivers – in some hotels group bookings can only be made in this category.

Are the rooms segregated by gender?

Accommodation is generally segregated by gender; if some of the group members are minors then we are obligated by law to do so. Mixed accommodation is therefore only possible on your explicit request and if all group members are of age. To allow us to comply with the regulations, please let us know as early as possible – and in any case no later than 6 weeks before your arrival – the exact number of female and male group members. If you tell us later, then we may not be able to guarantee separate accommodation by gender. In the worst case we might be forced to cancel your booking without you being entitled to claim your money back.

In accordance with our general terms and conditions, in the case of groups of 12 persons or more, an advance payment of 10% of the invoice amount must be made by bank transfer within 4 weeks from the time the booking was confirmed. If you arrive within 8 weeks of booking confirmation, the total invoice amount must be paid in advance as soon as possible. . The remaining amount must be paid on arrival. How is the pricing structured?

At MEININGER, the pricing is based on the same principle as that of an airline – namely depending on season, availability, time of booking and demand, and they may therefore vary. In the case of group bookings, the prices for all beds and additional services laid down in the contract at the time of booking confirmation apply. Any additional later bookings may only be available at a higher price especially due to price increases in the intervening period.

When do I get a free accommodation and breakfast?

With few exceptions, every 21st group member will get free accommodation and breakfast. In the case where the majority of the group stays in shared rooms, this applies to a bed in a shared room, and where the majority of the group stays in single and twin rooms, this applies to a twin room. The special offer is not transferrable to other room categories. Discounts and special offers are available occasionally depending on location and season – we will of course notify you no later than together with our offer.
