The Great Market Hall is one of the symbols of Budapest and loved by locals and tourists alike. The inside of the magnificent neo-Gothic building is filled with action. In every corner, in every shop there are new things to discover and admire. This busy atmosphere is reflected in the interior design of the MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall, which is located immediately next to the Great Market Hall. The facilities and decor embrace the Market Hall theme in all its facets and visitors are enchanted by this unique flair.

Great Market Hall neighborhood was once an area mainly devoted to industrial work but it has subsequently been transformed into a cool and chic neighborhood with artistic works, cosy cafes and great restaurants- this is why we chose to base MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall here! On the banks of the River Danube, there is so much to see and do locally you may not feel the need to venture that far out at all! The local neighborhood has some of the most fascinating museums in the entire city including the Holocaust Memorial Center, a 1920s synagogue serving as a memorial for Hungarian Jewish Holocaust victims, and the Ludwig Museum which displays great modern works of art. Those looking to party in the evenings have the option of Budapest Park nightclub nearby.
The Great Market Hall itself (the best of the fresh food markets in the whole city) is an attraction that should be on top of the list: the abundance and mix of spices, fruits and vegetables and salty cuts of meats create a hectic and heavenly ambience that is unforgettable for a traveler. The local foods and ingredience such as Hungarian Paprika and Langos, as well as the interaction between traders and customers, create an experience unique to Budapest and this has to be felt in person!
In terms of the surrounding areas, there are some fantastic options to visit. Népliget, which is known as "People´s Park", containing statues and a planeterium is just to the east. Józsefváros, the 8th district of Budapest is right next to us, as well as the Inner City and Palace District. Across the Danube there is the Gellért-Hegy area and the neighborhood of Lágymányos which is part of the district of Újbuda. Lágymányos has some great places to visit including the ELTE Museum of Mathematics, good night clubs and a rock climbing gym. Our Hotel Near Central Market Hall in Budapest has fantastic public transport connections with Fővám tér undeground station just a few minutes walk away.
