Following the recently announced hotel opening in Edinburgh planned for this summer, MEININGER Hotels is continuing its expansion in the UK & Ireland with a new property in the heart of Dublin's authentic Liberties district. Developed in collaboration with partner Salamisso Developments, the new building will cover 8,163 square meters and seven floors, comprising 232 rooms with a total of 811 beds. This includes 75 double rooms, 33 triple rooms, 91 quadruple rooms, and 33 six-bed rooms, in line with the brand's flexible room concept. The opening is scheduled for April 2028.
Dublin on trend: High demand for accommodation
Dublin is currently one of the most popular city destinations in Europe. At the 2026 Travellers’ Choice Awards, Tripadvisor ranked Dublin first among the best destinations for solo travelers, in part due to its compact size, excellent walkability, and welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere. At the same time, the city records one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in Europe. The ratio of total overnight stays to available hotel rooms shows that the Irish capital is under-supplied with hotel beds compared to other European gateway cities. In recent years, occupancy has averaged over 80%, and the limited capacity meets steadily increasing demand, which is further driven by Dublin’s expanding cultural and music offerings.

The Liberties: Urban chic and convenient transport connections
Located in Liberties district, directly next to the iconic music and event venue Vicar Street and the National College of Art and Design, the hotel is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to experience authentic Dublin and its vibrant art and music scene. The hotel also offers excellent transport connections: Heuston Station is within walking distance and provides access to both regional and national trains, as well as the Luas tram, which takes visitors to Dublin’s historic city center in just a few minutes. In addition, the Dublin Express Coach connects the hotel directly to the airport in approximately 40 minutes.

MEININGER Hotels continues its expansion
Following Edinburgh, Barcelona, Strasbourg, Kiel, Tel Aviv, Madrid, and Porto, the MEININGER hotel in Dublin is already the eighth location currently in development. This brings the portfolio of 36 hotels to continuous growth, with a medium-term target of 50 locations across Europe. MEININGER Hotels focuses on carefully planned hotel projects rather than rapid mass openings. “Our goal is to gradually expand our proven hybrid concept, a combination of hotel and hostel, into European markets and establish additional locations, while maintaining quality and sustainability without compromise,” concludes Ajit Menon.
