Nothing better to get in the right Advent-mood than visiting Frankfurt’s Christmas Market.

From November 27th to December 21st 2023, the metropolis on the Main radiates a one-of-a-kind festive glow which is boosted by Advent concerts as part of the so-called “International Christmas”, a daily Advent carol-singing, and Santa Claus himself visiting the city!

200 Christmas-decorated stalls, the scent of roasted almonds, waffles and barbecue specialties, and the joy of the first mulled wine of the season are waiting for you.

🌟 A Super Famous Market

Thanks to its size and long tradition, the Frankfurt Christmas Market is among the most popular and important ones in Germany. The market stretches from the Hauptwache, past Römerberg and Paulsplatz right down to the Mainkai.

Of course, the star of the show is the square at Römerberg where you’ll find a 33-meter-tall, European spruce tree standing there since the beginning of November with the Town Hall as an impressive backdrop. Fun fact: the tree is 124 years old. In Römerberg, you’ll also see a nostalgic, 2-storey carousel perfect for all ages.

💕 It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like… Pink Christmas

In Friedrich-Stoltze-Platz, near the Zeil shopping street, you’ll find the colorful LGBTQIA+ community celebrating Pink Christmas—Rosa Weihnachten in German.  Everyone’s always welcome there, so, hurry up and join them.

Enjoy as many culinary delicacies as you can while you’re celebrating: mulled wine, bratwurst, chestnuts, gingerbread and the traditional Frankfurter Bethmännchen. And remember to snap some shots in front of the 16-meter-high Christmas pyramid with an imposing high-rise backdrop.

In the mood for Christmas shopping? Get some hand-crafted products from the Ore Mountains, nutcrackers and Christmas-tree ornaments from the wonderful stalls of the market. Or you can check out popular gift-choices like the Bembel cookie cutter for Plätzchen (Christmas cookies) and more things that will make you smile.

❄️ Calling All Artists & Art Lovers

An artist at heart? Well, then, the Frankfurt Artists’ Christmas Market, which took place for the first time 100 years ago, is definitely the perfect fit for you.

Find exciting paintings, sculptures and photographs by 54 artists in the Paulskirche, and more works by 51 artists in an exhibition in the Römerhallen. Some art-pieces are also going to be for sale.
