London in 2 Days: So Much to Do, So Little Time

Although the sheer size and number of attractions make London in 48 hours a difficult place to fully embrace, with some careful planning it is possible to hit many of the major sites.

Here is our London in 48 hours itinerary, to cover the best of the UK capital:

London in 2 Days: Day One

Morning

Start at London`s Trafalgar Square, the bustling central hub of the city. Pop into the National Gallery to see some of the world’s most recognizable artworks. Then stroll south towards Westminster.  Take a peek in at 10 Downing Street on the way. Then to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Wander through leafy St James’s Park to Buckingham Palace before heading east to Knightsbridge and world-famous department store Harrod’s. Afternoon

After lunch make your way to Leicester Square, the heart of the West End. Here you can wander the shopping areas of Oxford Circus and Covent Garden. Then begin indulging in a traditional afternoon tea at one of London’s iconic luxury hotels such as the Ritz, the Savoy or the Langham.

Evening

Book tickets for a West End show for a world-class theatre experience before heading to Chinatown for some late-night Asian cuisine. To drink and dance into the early hours, check out the trendy bars and clubs of nearby Soho before heading to bed. Now doing London in 48 hours is starting to look possible!

London in 2 Days: Day Two

Morning

Begin by perusing the collections at the fabulous British Museum. You can then work your way through the City, London’s business district, to St Paul’s Cathedral. Alternatively travel a little further east and visit the Tower of London and one of the city’s iconic symbols, Tower Bridge. For lunch, cross the Thames and explore the myriad of dining options at the foodie heaven that is Borough Market.

Afternoon

Spend the afternoon exploring the south bank of the river. Take a trip up the Shard (the tallest building in the UK), visit the Globe Theatre or soak up some contemporary art at the Tate Modern. Stop for refreshment at one of the many historic pubs in the area for a pint of beer.

Evening

Splash out for a spin on the London Eye, for a truly breath-taking view of the city at sunset. You can then finish your London sojourn in a very British way with a proper fish & chip supper. London in 48 hours has been achieved!
