Discover the best Street Food Markets Vienna
Some time ago, Street Food markets also have established in Austria. Previously, there were food trucks and other sales stalls even before, but they only have a supporting role at events. The concept is simple and comes from Asia: Different dishes are prepared in front of the customer. There are mobile stalls (like foodtrucks) on public areas, where the food is made and sold. The dishes are mainly fingerfood and can be eaten without cutlery therefore ideal for „to go“.
A prototype for a food truck does not exist. There are converted camper trailer, VW Bully’s and many others. The licensees sell what they like and are highly flexible because of low fixed costs. Especially the low labour costs are supporting this business model.
Nowadays you can hardly imagine every designmarket, sport event or private parties without foodtrucks. The menu can be easily adapted to the customer’s taste and different requirements of the event organizer.
Many of the foodtrucks post their days of sale on Facebook.
The boys from Wrapstars are known for their fresh juicy wraps and their polarizing slogan: “Real Food, No Bullshit”. They sell exclusively wraps filled with veggies or with slow-cooked meat and homemade sauces and salsas.
Monika and her team of Hy-Kitchen are aslo well-known in the scene. 2014 she won in the category “Best Burger“ with her „HabsBURGER“ (with boiled beef and apple-horseradish) at the British Street Food Awards in Leeds.
By the way, their Pulled Pork Sandwich from Iberico pork with BBQ sauce is to die for.
I would like to present you two new faces on Austrian Steetfood Markets:
- The well-seasoned pastrami sandwich of Mogg & Melzer from Berlin is known across all borders. The Boys from Pastrami Baby have the special recipe. They sell the phenomenal pastrami and fries in their golden Food Truck in and around Vienna.
- You get the best fries far and wide at the metal foodtruck from Frittz- Premium Pommes. The team only use Austrian potatoes for their crispy baked fries. The fries are offered with sea salt, rosemary and a range of different sauces. Especially recommended are the tomatoe sauce with whiskey, a pumpkin seed hemp sauce. The fries taste lovely, are vegetarian, gluten-free and worth every penny!
