Tips for a trip to Salzburg

Untersberg

Do you want to have a great view over the whole region of Salzburg? Then you have to visit the Untersberg, the highest mountain in the region. It is just a short bus ride from the city center and from our MEININGER Hotel Salzburg City Center to the station Untersberg. There you have to take the cable car which takes 15 minutes to the top of the mountain. No worries, time will flew by because you can already enjoy an amazing view during the ride. We are sure you will be impressed by the incredible view over the whole region at the top of the Untersberg. There are a lot of things to do at Unterbergs: hiking, climbing and many other athletic activities. Do not forget to wear sturdy shoes! There is a nice restaurant on top of the Untersberg to recover after a hiking tour.

Markartsteg

Who is deeply in love with his partner, needs to go to the Markartsteg to perpetuate the love with a little lock on the bridge. If you fall in love spontaneously, there is no problem: You can buy locks at the Getreidegasse – just a few steps next to bridge.

Dirndl Jumping

For every tourist it might be a little weird to see women in dirndl dresses jumping into water. But in Salzburg there is a tradition that takes place in summer: dirndl jumping. The jumping women have a lot of fun and cool off from the summer heat. The audience enjoy the fun competition – especially when dressed-up men try to do the best jump. Dirndl jumping is a great tradition in Salzburg and definitely a must-see.
