Nice Cafés in Cologne

Nice Cafés in Cologne

This post is also available in: German

Staying at the MEININGER Hotel Cologne City Center right in the heart of the city you probably won’t need a car or even a taxi to explore Cologne. Some of the most cozy and nicest bars and shops are right around the corner. Like the ‘Orlando’. Going there for breakfast or just one of their huge Cafe latte is a perfect start in the day. The Orlando is small but everybody will feel comfortable with it thanks to the nice selection of the vintage furniture. The Wifi works fast and good which unfortunately very rarely is the case in Cafés in Cologne. Perfect breakfast choices are the fresh fruit salad with yoghurt (awesome!) and their delicious Omelette with Spinach and Feta.

Renate, Richard or Gaby? No easy decision just going for a name. At the ‘Engelbät’ the food has forenames. On the menu you will mostly find delicious crépes, some with meat, some without. But they are all very good and huge! So there is the chance to go for the smaller version if you are not that hungry. Try Gaby which comes with Ratatouille and is AWESOME. The Restaurant is perfect to spend the evening and get lost in time while talking and having a drink or two.

You should not miss Habibi when you are in Cologne and like Falafel or any oriental food. Habibi is a very well known restaurant in Cologne and everybody knows why. Very nice atmosphere, great food and a fun owner who is always up for a chat! Promise: you will not leave hungry when you are spending time at Habibi.

Café Magnus

For many years now the ‘Magnus’ is a well known and utterly loved students restaurants. Low prices, great food, big plates just make it. Fun thing: When students leave University and Cologne they will return sometime to have lunch at the Magnus to get ‘that’ feeling good University-moments again. As soon as the sun comes out, the seats outside are occupied. Although the Magnus is situated at one of the noisiest places. But there is just so much to watch. Big groups feel fine here. Reservations are possible.
