Berlin Festival of Lights: Discover the capital city outdoors  

The Berlin Festival of Lights is a captivating event that transforms the German capital into a luminescent wonderland, enchanting residents and visitors alike. This annual spectacle typically takes place in October and lasts for about a week, during which iconic landmarks, buildings, and public spaces across Berlin are adorned with dazzling light installations, projections, and 3D mapping shows.

From the Brandenburg Gate to Berlin Cathedral, the city becomes a canvas for light art, inviting everyone to explore the metropolis in a new and inspiring way, bridging the gap between art, technology, and community.

The concept for 2023 is centered around the topic “Colours of Life”. Through the power of light art, the festival aims to prove how multifaceted and beautiful life in a diverse and colorful society is, and how creative diversity arises from very different ways of living which always brings forth something new and exciting – in Berlin and elsewhere in the world.

BERLIN FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: 06th-15th of October 2023

This year, the light installations will take place from the 6th until the 15th of October and can be admired in many new locations. In addition to the well-known landmarks such as Berlin Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate, the TV Tower and the Victory Column, 13 railway stations, a number of federal ministries and the former 33-storey high Ku’damm Karree will also be aglow with light. 

70 illuminated works of art in 35 separate locations across Berlin await curious visitors which will amaze locals and visitors alike. Under the motto “Colours of Life”, numerous international artists set to work with themes such as solidarity, diversity, freedom and tolerance.

All illuminations light up daily between 20.00 and 24.00 hours, unless otherwise indicated.
