Berlin Festival of Lights – Discover the capital city outdoors
Every autumn, Berlin Festival of Lights takes place in Berlin: world-famous landmarks and buildings are illuminated with spectacularly staged light shows. This year the popular festival particularly invites you to have a stroll around and discover the districts of Berlin. This is to avoid too many people accumulating in one place at the same time. The concept for 2020 is also a fantastic opportunity to discover the capital off the beaten track (and for all those who aren’t able to travel, this year it’s even possible to experience the shows virtually!)
17. Berlin FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: 03.-12. September 2021
This year, the productions will take place from 03-12 September and can be admired in many new locations. In addition to the well-known landmarks such as Berlin Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate, the Television Tower and the Victory Column, 13 railway stations, a number of federal ministries and the former 33-storey high Ku’damm Karree will also be aglow with light.
100 illuminated works of art in 86 separate locations across Berlin await curious visitors this year, which will amaze locals and visitors alike. Under the motto “Together we shine”, 40 artists set to work with themes such as solidarity, trust, diversity, freedom and tolerance.
