Berlin Festival of Lights – Discover the capital city outdoors
Every autumn, Berlin Festival of Lights takes place in Berlin: world-famous landmarks and buildings are illuminated with spectacularly staged light shows. This year the popular festival invites you to have a stroll around and discover the districts of Berlin.
The concept for 2022 is centered around sustainability and innovation, with 75% less power consumption! The venues have been reduced – as has been the daily duration of the shows by one hour – while the number of productions has increased. This year’s edition manages to successfully save crucial resources whilst maintaining the same high standards for the shows and strong focus on artistic value.
This year, the light installations will take place from the 7th until the 16th of October and can be admired in many new locations. In addition to the well-known landmarks such as Berlin Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate, the Television Tower and the Victory Column, 13 railway stations, a number of federal ministries and the former 33-storey high Ku’damm Karree will also be aglow with light.
70 illuminated works of art in 35 separate locations across Berlin await curious visitors which will amaze locals and visitors alike. Under the motto “Vision of our Future”, numerous international artists set to work with themes such as solidarity, diversity, freedom and tolerance.
