This area is perhaps most famed for what lies just opposite to our hotel, the East Side Gallery: a political mural symbolizing the reunification of East and West Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is the longest open air gallery in the world, 1316 m in length, and can be found between Ostbahnhof and the Oberbaum bridge. The wall itself is covered in a magnificent and eclectic mix of artworks from around 100 different artists. It is visited by over 3 million people a year for a reason, so make sure you are one of the lucky ones to see this beautiful monument to unity and art!
