The Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) is a monumental German Evangelical church located in central Berlin, on the Museum Island. For all of you film buffs, you’re going to love the Oberbaum Bridge (German: Oberbaumbrücke). This famous double-deck bridge crossing the river Spree is one of the most recognizable places in Berlin thanks to its cameo in many popular Hollywood productions, such as “The Bourne Supremacy” (2004) or “Run Lola Run” (1998). The bridge’s distinctive medieval turrets make it a unique and popular photography spot. One of Berlin’s most impressive sites obviously means an Insta-opportunity is coming your way. 

The colorful East Side Gallery, once a piece of the former Berlin Wall, is today the longest open-air gallery in the world. The gallery displays mural paintings that have become iconic over the years and are popular attractions amongst tourists today. With 1.3 kilometers of history and art, there’s plenty of Instagram opportunities to choose from! Don’t forget to take a picture of the most iconic of them all: “The Fraternal Kiss”.

If you’re into urban and edgy street photography, Teufelsberg is the right place for you. The former spy station during the Cold War is nowadays a popular place for taking photographs thanks to its incredible street art. The strategic location on top of a hill offers visitors great views of Berlin while the abundance of graffiti will allow you plenty of creative ways to capture the perfect Instagram photo!

The Sony Center is a relatively new building compound located in Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz. Another important piece of German history is just one picture away.  

Checkpoint Charlie was one of the main American military crossing points between East and West Berlin during the Cold War and a must-see sight in Berlin. The iconic monument has a huge historical and emotional significance and it’s definitely worthy of a stop-and-snap opportunity.  

Tip for espionage thrillers lovers: Checkpoint Charlie was the setting for many thrillers and spy novels and films – such as James Bond in “Octopussy” (1983),  “The Spy Who Came In From The Cold” (1965) and “Bridge of Spies” (2015).
