Amsterdam is famous for its canals - it's not called the Venice of the North for nothing.
The water makes its way through the city along the many, semi-circular canals. The city actually lies two metres under sea level.
So it's no wonder that Amsterdamers live in harmony with the sea. The interplay of land and water is ever present in the cityscape and is also skillfully realised in the design of the new hotel. Guests of the MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam Amstel can plunge in, immerse themselves and feel great.

MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam Amstel is part of the Frankendael neighborhood, which is in turn a division of the wider area of Watergraafsmeer. Waterfraafsmeer is a polder (low-lying tract of land sealed off by dikes forming an artificial hydrological structure), which makes it interesting in itself to visit!
The hotel is also part of the city's tallest residential skyscraper and is located directly opposite the Amsterdam Amstelstation train station. Thanks to this location, the center with its sights is only a few minutes away by train. Alternatively, the historic old town can be easily reached by bike, crossing Berlagebrug, in just 15 minutes.
Watergraafsmeer has quite a large area devoted to residential properties that date back to the 1930s, and the atmosphere around the locality is peaceful and safe. Of particular interest to football fans of a certain age will be the neighborhood right next to Frankendael, called Betondorp, which is where the great Johan Cruijff grew up.
However, there is also so much to do and see outside of this neighborhood: the wider city of Amsterdam beckons our guests to come and experience it all! We are located to the south of Amsterdam Centrum, where there is a multitude of famous tourist attractions including Rembrandt House Museum and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The borough of Amsterdam-Zuid is to the west and Markermeer lake is only a short distance away. You won´t have any trouble getting places as we are in a fantastic location with Amsterdam Amstel station on the doorstep giving you access to all over the city.
There is plenty to check out in the local area including the local Frankendael Park, a 7 acre open green space where there is a 17th century estate home. Anyone looking to blow off some steam after a hectic day will find this place a great relief. You will also find some great restaurants if you fancy dining out.
Check-in at MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam Amstel is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is until 11:00 AM.
Yes, secure parking on-site is available to guests.
