The MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam City West is conveniently located near transport facilities at the Sloterdijk train station. It’s just 5 train stops from here to Central Station in the heart of the Old Town and 10 minutes to the Schiphol airport. The City West is an ideal base for a city break to Amsterdam. From here school classes, backpackers or families can feel relaxed setting off on a day trip: go out in the trendy district Westerpark, visit the Rijksmuseum or play beach volleyball at Strand West - all the hot spots are easy to get to.

Everything was so great at this hotel: friendly staff, the reception working round the clock, spacious and lovely communal spaces and the room was perfect. We were 3 people in a private 3 bed-room, so

The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are less than 6 kilometres away from the MEININGER Hotel. Both art museums can be comfortably and directly reached by tram.

MEININGER Hotel Amsterdam City West is based in the neighborhood of Sloterdijk which is part of the larger borough of Westpoort. The locality itself offers a variety of experiences meaning you don`t have to leave the neighborhood in order to start your trip! There are a few places within the locality if you want to grab some food as well as a couple of options in terms of night life and clubbing if you don`t want a long journey back.
For those who would rather get their blood pumping in the day then why not visit the Rock Climbing gym nearby? There is also a paintballing center further to the west of the neighborhood, so there is no reason to leave at all! However, you probably will eventually want to go out and experience all the other great places that Amsterdam has to offer and we are well connected via public transport to make your journey easy and simple, with Amsterdam Sloterdijk station just seconds from the hotel.
In terms of other neighborhoods, Amsterdam Nieuw-West lies south-west of our hotel, whilst Amsterdam West and Amsterdam Centrum, the heart of the city, are to the south-east. There are a multitude of things to see including Anne Frank´s House, the place where the teenage diarist hiding from the Nazis lived, in between the Jordaan and De Wallen neighborhoods. In addition, check out the fantastic museums nearby including the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and more.
