Hamburg – the Hanseatic friendliness, northern German hospitality, delicious fish bread rolls and the scent of the wide world floating on the breeze. What would Hamburg be without its famous harbour? MEININGER also got swept away with the nautical charm of the Hanseatic City and furnished the MEININGER Hotel Hamburg City Center in this theme. Pictures with ocean motifs and maritime souvenirs decorate the rooms and get the guests into the right spirit for their Hamburg visit as soon as they arrive.

MEININGER Hotel Hamburg City Center is located in the neighborhood of Altona-Nord, a charming area which has a population of around 23,000 people. Hamburg itself has thousands of fantastic sights and tourists activities, but you don´t have to even venture out of this locality to experience some fun activities. There are plenty of different types of restaurants with enough culinary variety to satisfy all palates- from great German places, to vegan restaurants and burger joints.
Additinally, there is the Stage Theater Neue Flora, a performing arts theatre nearby, so if you are a family looking for a day out then look no further than this. There is also so much more to see outside of this neighborhood and it is therefore fortunate that we are well connected to the rest of Hamburg, with Hamburg-Altona station just a few seconds walk from the hotel. The borough of Altona-Altstadt is just to the east and holds a popular Sunday morning fish market where you can pop down and sample one of the delicious fish sandwhiches known as ´Fischbrötchen`.
As you move further east you can visit Elbphilharmonie Hamburg concert hall, which is the city´s tallest building and overlooks the harbor. It is one of the most advanced and sophisticated concert halls in the world creating a unique and memorable sound. Hamburg Dungeon is a great place to visit with the family or on a school trip- it has real life actors creating a spooky and exciting atmosphere as well as much more!
