The only bad comment I would like to tell you is that every morning at breakfast there were flies hanging around the food and sitting on the food. You need to try to get rid of them every night, so
Since imperial times Vienna has been the cultural and political centre of Austria. The emperor Franz Joseph I, consort of legendary empress “Sissi” Elisabeth, resided and ruled here in the 19th Century.
In contrast to his capricious wife, Franz was more sober and considered and ruled with an even hand. This “imperial straightforwardness” can be seen in the MEININGER Hotel Vienna Downtown Franz. The linear architecture of the modern building combines with the harmonious interior. Comfy chairs and a large Franz Joseph mural emphasise the cosy features.
Vienna has so much to offer: art, culture and the progressive life-style make the Austrian capital city a tourist magnet. The MEININGER hotel welcomes all visitors to Vienna, whether they are backpackers taking a break from their Interrail trip, business people travelling for work, families on a city break or school students on a class trip. At MEININGER there are modern rooms at affordable prices. Great atmosphere included.
Backpackers, who want to see the sights of Vienna, find comfortable and affordable accommodation in the MEININGER hotel’s modern dormitories. During their stay they don’t have to worry about their luggage as it is secured in lockers in the rooms during the day.
Business people can prepare for their appointments in peace and quiet at the hotel. At MEININGER internet terminals and telephones are available and, of course, free WiFi as well. The air conditioning in the modernly equipped rooms means everyone can keep a cool head just in case it gets really hot in summer.
At the nearby Karmelitermarkt, families can find delicious national and international specialities, which they can later make into a tasty dinner in the guest kitchen.
MEININGER Hotel Vienna Downtown Franz is located in northern part of Vienna´s 2nd district, known as Leopoldstadt. We are located just next to a canal which seperates this neighborhood from the city center and Alsergrund district. We have greenery either side of our hotel with Wettsteinpark and Augarten park. The larger Augarten park is home to a royal palace as well as Vienna Porcelain Manufactory.
Along the canal there are numerous bars and restaurants where you can go to relax afterwards, whether you are looking for some late night food or a refreshing cocktail.
There are some great monuments and landmarks to check out including the Vienna Crime Museum and the "Kunst Haus Wien. Museum Hundertwasser", which is devoted to the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the artist and architect, whose graphic designs and paintings are displayed here. If you would like something a bit more life-like then Madam Tussads Vienna is a little further out in distance.
No tour of this local area would be complete without going to see the Ernst Happel Stadium, the largest football stadium in Austria. Holding over 50,000 people, it is the Austrian football team`s national stadium and has hosted some fantastic games over the years! We are very well connected in terms of public transport, with a number of underground stations nearby including Friedensbrücke and Schottenring.
