Leipzig’s cultural landscape is changing and emerging. Artists, intellectuals and students see “Litte Paris” as a compact alternative to Berlin and choose to make their new home here. Art, culture, music: Everything is moving, developing and taking form in Leipzig.
MEININGER makes “Art in Progress” the theme of the MEININGER Hotel Leipzig Central Station. Out of a mix of shapes and colours it creates a - maybe not quite finished - artwork. Because, as we can read in the dining room, a masterpiece begins with the intention: “I also want to be an artist.”
There are many good reasons for a city break to multifaceted Leipzig. Whether a backpacker interested in culture, hurrying business people, families on a relaxing holiday or school students on a fun class trip: The MEINIGER Hotel Leipzig Central Station is a modern, comfortable and cosy place with a very special atmosphere for everyone. And of course the usual affordable MEININGER prices. It makes travelling fun!
After the official sightseeing tour, backpackers can admire architecture of Leipzig’s modern shopping malls near the MEININGER Hotel Leipzig Central Station. Observe people and buy designer fashion or souvenirs.
Due to the close proximity to the Central Station, business people can travel on public transport directly to the Leipziger Messe without having to change trains. For those in less of a hurry to get to an appointment, the short walk from the MEININGER Hotel Leipzig Central Station to the train station can be extended with a stroll around the swan lake opposite the hotel.
A popular day trip destination for parents with children is the Leipzig Zoo, which is only 1.2 km away from MEININGER. The guest kitchen, the comfortable terrace in the internal courtyard and the game zone in the hotel ensure families on a family holiday have evening activities with a pleasant atmosphere.
Music lover tour groups will find what they are looking for at a concert in the Gewandhaus or at the opera. Afterwards they can stay affordably in one of MEININGER’s comfortable shared, double or single rooms.
The interior design of MEININGER Hotel Leipzig Central Station is based on “art in progress” and this theme is further reflected in the neighborhood we are in, Zentrum. It is well known for its art institutions and museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Bach-Museum Leipzig and Forum of Contemporary History Leipzig. On top of that there is also the Höfe am Brühl shopping center to check out before you leave so you can pick up a souvenir or a memorable gift for a loved one.
In terms of culinary delights and activities to satiate hungry travelers, the locals in Zentrum often pop down to one of the many cafes and coffee shops, so why not do what they do!? If you are looking for something a little more substantial then pick from a multitude of different restaurants within this neighborhood.
Further to this, Zentrum is home to one of Europe`s great educational facilities in Leipzig University. The institution itself dates back to the 15th century and was attended by some true icons of European history including Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Nietzsche, Gottfried Leibniz and Richard Wagner. However, there is also so much to see beyond the delights of this neighborhood. Further to the west you can find Bach-Museum Leipzig and the G2 Modern art museum. To the south-east is the Zentrum-Südost region which is home to a large student population and Botanical Garden Leipzig which is part of the University. Zentrum-Nordwest district is relatively near our hotel and is home to Zoo Leipzig which is a great place to visit with kids. In terms of getting to places, we are based in an extremely good location with both Leipzig Markt and Leipzig Hauptbahnhof stations just a few minutes walk by foot.
