MEININGER young employees during their hotel apprenticeship program

Time: 2-3 years

For: vocational school students who have completed 9 years of school with good grades and are at least 15-16 years old (parental approval required)

What: this program combines vocational school learning with on-the-job training in one of our hotels

Where: hotels in Germany, Austria & Switzerland

Start dates: February & August-September every year

You’ll graduate as one of the following: 1) Hotel Management Assistant in Germany, 2) Qualified Professional in Hospitality Services in Germany, 3) Hotel and Catering Assistant / Hotel & Hospitality Assistant in Austria, 4) Hotel Communication Specialist in Switzerland.

For: local students (hospitality or tourism)

What: learn by doing in a real hotel setting & get hands-on experience in daily operations

Where: hotels in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium & Denmark

What: combine your studies with real-world experience. You’ll learn the theory behind tourism and business administration, then apply it through guided, practical training

For external applicants: You need a bachelor’s in hospitality or a completed vocational training in hotel or tourism management, plus at least 1 year of experience in hospitality or tourism (HoReCa), and flexibility to relocate

For internals (M-Explorers): You need a bachelor’s or master’s degree, 1-2 years of MEININGER experience, positive performance reviews, and flexibility to relocate

Time: 3 days

For: internals (M-Explorers)

What: once a year, MEININGER trainees, apprentices and dual students from across Europe meet for interactive workshops, share ideas, learn important insights about the industry, and have fun as a team

What qualifications do I need to apply for an apprenticeship or a dual study program at MEININGER Hotels?

It depends on the country and the program:

Hotel apprenticeship (Germany, Austria, Switzerland): You need to be at least 15–16 years old (parental consent required), with 9 years of schooling and good grades.

Dual study program (Berlin only): You must be enrolled at the Berlin School of Economics & Law in a business or tourism-related course.

What’s the application process for the MEININGER management trainee program?

The 15-month program is open to both internal and external candidates.

External applicants: You need a degree or vocational training in hospitality/tourism, at least 1 year of HoReCa experience, and flexibility to relocate.

Internal applicants (M-Explorers): You need a bachelor’s or master’s degree, 1–2 years at MEININGER, good performance reviews, and relocation flexibility.

You can but we recommend focusing on the one that feels like the best fit for you. A well-targeted application usually makes a stronger impression!
