European hotel group MEININGER Hotels and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) have entered into a strategic partnership to jointly promote international student mobility. ESNcard holders now receive exclusive discounts when booking through the official MEININGER website, giving them access to affordable short-term accommodation across all group properties. MEININGER currently operates 36 hotels in 26 European cities, with additional openings in the pipeline.
A partnership for intercultural exchange
ESN is one of Europe's largest student organisations. With over 1,000 higher education institutions in more than 40 countries, the network supports around 150,000 young people each year during their stays abroad. The organisation helps students integrate into their host cities and provides them with relevant information about living and studying abroad.
The partnership between ESN and MEININGER Hotels is an ideal match: MEININGER's hybrid concept, which combines hotel comfort with hostel atmosphere, perfectly meets the needs of exchange students. Thanks to flexible room categories ranging from private double rooms to shared dormitories and an attractive price-performance ratio, the company offers suitable accommodation for mobile students across Europe. “MEININGER and ESN target the same audience: young, open-minded people who want to discover new cultures and countries. This cooperation is therefore a logical and strong step for us. Together, we're creating the right framework for affordable, intercultural experiences,” comments Malin Widmarc-Nilsson, VP Commerce at MEININGER Hotels. The partnership covers the entire MEININGER portfolio, with hotels currently in ten European countries. With planned openings in cities such as Barcelona, Edinburgh, and Strasbourg, the hotel group continues to expand its presence in popular urban student destinations.
“MEININGER is a valuable addition to our network. We share the belief that intercultural exchange should not be a question of budget. Together, we're making international mobility more accessible and promoting cultural encounters where they actually happen: on site,” says Rui Vinha, Treasurer of ESN.
Supporting European educational mobility
This partnership underscores MEININGER Hotels' commitment to young travellers and international education. As a brand that has been hosting families, school groups, and young adults since 1999, MEININGER Hotels understands the specific accommodation and service needs of these target groups. The Erasmus Programme, launched in 1987, has enabled over five million students to complete part of their studies abroad within Europe. The partnership with MEININGER Hotels helps to further support this important initiative and promote student mobility and international exchange.
